I found it here and ordered it through one of the marketplace sellers. The book was in fair condion.
Other copies of the book were selling for several hundred dollars. No dust jacket, loose binding and a little yellow but, because it was so hard to find I found it to be worth it.
I got this book for my father for Christmas. The illustrations are beautiful and match the cartoon movie version that came out at the same time.
My father was very pleased. He had the same one when we were kids and had always wanted another copy after losing the first one.
It was the exact same edition from my childhood.
I am not thrilled by many books, but I enjoyed this one. I LOVED this book. It was exciting and adventuresome.
This is the first novel that was more than 150 pages that I read when I was a kid and I remember reading it fondly. He goes through caves, meets humans and has a close call with a dragon called Smaug. The book is a fun fantasy adventure story with a great deal of depth to the world it takes place in. The novel, "The Hobbit", by J.R.R. I recently reread it and it was better reading the second time around. He is taken on a great adventure with dwarfs. Tolkien is a great story of a small individual from a small human like people called the hobbits. He encounters a creature called Gollum and finds a ring that makes the wearer invisible.
This illustrated version stays true to the original "Hobbit" and has been a great way for me to get my kids interested in reading Tolkien's works for themselves. My father brought me and my siblings up on Tolkien.
It's still a great read, even 35 years later. I read this within 1 week of getting it. I bought this to replace my wel worm and loved paperback from 1975. The old copy will go onthe shelf.
